I am kind of new to both Lyx and Linux, and I am having a small problem
with the quality of the printed files.

I can generate dvi and ps, and print OK. However, when using the
default font (helvetica?), the printed quality of the documents I generate in my
Linux box (tex->dvi->ps) is lower than the quality of the same tex file,
printed at home too, but processed in my department's Linux machines. The
differences are:
        - fonts are "thicker";
        - fonts are compressed vertically

I think that the problem is in the dvi->ps step ---dvips then?--- not in the
tex->dvi step. I have tried configuring dvips as specified in the user manual,
but I see no effects. I've looked in the customization manual (printer
section) but still don't get it.
Moreover, if I make changes that are highly specific to my home setup, will I
then be able to take the ps files to my department, use the laser printer
there, and obtain good quality? What can I do?

Thanks,

Ramon
