I don't have that file (Don't tell me *that* has anything to do with
it) in my home/.lyx directory, but I have my lyxrc file posted at
www.coastalgeology.org/linux/lyxrc next to a texput.log which might
give someone other than me a clue.
I could copy the lyxrc.defaults file into my home dir, but that would
be a weird cause of a problem like this.
