I created a 4-inch wide image in inkscape (using public domain clipart from openclipart.org).
I have copies of it here in inkscape SVG format, Tex format using pstricks (as saved by inkscape) and PNG (es exported by inkscape): http://pilchuck.reedmedia.net/jeremy/tmp-x47856vukwakbjejhr/ 1) First I tried to use the tex version in lyx, but lyx said: [1] Segmentation fault (core dumped) convert -depth 8... /usr/pkg/share/lyx/scripts/convertDefault.sh ERROR Execution of "convert" failed. And I have a core dump from convert. It is from ImageMagick-6.2.5.0. gdb says Signal 11 and #0 0x00000000 in ?? () #1 0x48843b9a in _init () from /usr/pkg/lib/libXau.so.6 #2 0x488438c5 in _init () from /usr/pkg/lib/libXau.so.6 #3 0x4804c706 in _rtld_call_init_functions () from /usr/libexec/ld.elf_so (Problem probably not related to ImageMagick nor the image itself.) 2) Next I tried the png image. It is blurry and seemed to scale somewhat too big. Any suggestions or pointers on creating good graphics to be used by LyX that will print well for a book? Thanks, Jeremy C.
