run "lyx -dbg action" in terminal, lyx window will be launched and on that terminal you will see the debug messages. in the "correct" case, if you do the reverse search in skim, there should appear message similar to what i posted in last message. if it appears we have to look whats wrong within lyx, if it does not appear we have to look whats wrong with skim or generated file. by chance - you dont use xdvi? also have read the section about reverse search in our manuals? pavel
