Guenter, Initially I set t postscript eps enhanced and tried to have gnuplot accept the palladio typeface. No joy there. Rather than wasting more time with this, I switched to Times and that worked. The eps output rotated itself so I regenerated the plot as ps; no difference. Both need to be rotated in lyx to appear properly in the generated pdf. Thanks, Rich
