Agreed...
Are you expecting me to verify that part?
Only cursorily, like if there is something non-obvious like you have to
change anything else on the board for one config vs the other.
The pinout and function all looks compatible to me and I'm fine with
taking my chances on if it works or kills something else on the rex, the
M100, or my house etc.
Wait what I meant to say was now that you said "ok" in public, I will
order some other part, botch the solder job, destroy 3 M100's in row
trying the bad module, and come on here and complain all about it.
Thanks much.

I'll assume you take
ownership of any hack. I'm having a hard enough time with the parts I
think I am getting....

Perfectly suitable hack, yes.
I would need to build it to debug it so it needs a ram on my end.
To be honest I have been struggling with why 4MB is needed. A
reasonable utility could easily push and pull files from
LaddieAlpha as a remote drive.
To be CP/M, you must have the local block oriented disk but 2MB
should be sufficient.
Anyhow, onwards.

It even seems to have a lower standby current. The Cypress data
sheet says 3uA and the Renesas says 0.6uA
If I buy one of these myself and solder it, will that be enough
other than re-programming?
$26 is a lot, and I wouldn't expect you to buy 100 of them
for $2400
but, if I want it, and assuming a perfect solder job, is there
anything else besides a reflash required to make it work?
Obviously, it's a given that all concept of warranty and
liability
goes out the window instantly.

All the 4MB SRAMs that I bought are actually 2MB SRAMs!
I've complained to the seller, and we'll see what they
say about
their "certified" parts.
4 MB SRAMs are hard to find at a reasonable price. I
ordered the
same product twice from the same seller. The first
time I paid
2x what I paid the second time. I guess that's the
hint right
there.
What does this mean? It means that everyone on this
build that
wanted 4MB (basically everyone) will have to settle for
2MB.
Also, If I can't find 4MB parts for a reasonable cost,
I may not
be able to offer that version again.
For the curious, here is what Digikey wants for the
parts I spec'd

For those who have reached out to order REXCPM-
I'm sorry that they are not done yet! But the
good
news is that
all the hardware is now built - 25 units.
Next steps are to program them, debug/test, then
package and ship.
Thanks for your patience; it is summer time
here and
there are
lots of time demands ;).
