Maybe I am a little late for this discussion.
When I bought my Samsung Galaxy SIII I decided to buy a bluetooth querty
keyboard and use it while getting used to the touch screen. I still use
it shen I am browsing or looking for something in the Playstore.
I have mentioned before that I use mostly now MA as screenreader for
Talkback as then I have a more easy access to all the possibilities of
the phone and the software works as normally. But MA as a basic system
also works well even there are some programs which do not function
normally when MA is used instead of Talkback.
One of the irritating thing with Talkback is the fact that you cannot
use some additional characters like ü (German) and the Icelandic
characters, á, é, í, ó, ý ú, when using the touch screen. Then you need
the physical keyboard. MA has now brought forward an Icelandic touch
screen keyboard with all the special character, but then the physical
keyboard doesn't work.
Let us remember what Chairman Mao said: "The ideas come from the
masses". Therefore we should discuss new ways and progress.

Claudia,
touch screen phones are fairly easy to use. I use an sIII and it isn't
difficult at all. You just explore and use the guestures, different in
talkBack then mobile accessibility. Claudia, if you want to call me, we can
talk about it but the Nexis 4 would be a good choice, Note: the Nexis 5 is due
out soon if you wanted to hold off.

Have you used the Nexus 4, and if so, how do you do this, given the fact that
it doesn't have a keyboard?
How do you text and dial?
Thanks.

IF you are on t mobile. Do you want a pure touch screen or touch/ keyboard
device. If you want the touch only solution which will be always up to date
would be the nexus 4. If you wanta touch/keyboard phone then the Samsung relay
which is stuck on version 4.1.2 of jelly bean but can be updated through a
custom rom for the device. But that’s up to you. I have just ordered the nexus
4 and will use mobile accessibility since I will use mobile accessibility where
I know that talkback has limitation and then vise versa.

Subject: [MA] phone Suggestions, Please
Hello,
I am desperately seeking suggestions, for a new phone! I am currently using an
Android phone, the Samsung Sidekick 4G, with TMobile, as my provider.
After 20 months, I think the phone has finally had it.
I did not damage it, drop it in water, etc., but my insurance coverage will
allow me to replace the phone, but at a cost of $150. I don't think so!
When I asked what compreble models they may have, with a Qwerty keyboard, a
representative informed me that Most companies are pretty much phasing out
those phones.
More and more Androids are completely touch screen phones.
Does anyone know of other Androids recently released that may suit my needs? I
just need to be able to text and hear texts.
I really don't want an Iphone, but it seems that more and more blind people are
using them.
Does anyone know whether the Blackbury q10 works for us or has speech?
Thanks.
Claudia
