Command-\ works from Safari yep but this command still has some accessibility
issues which are being worked on so you may not be able to access it in Safari.

Its a bit odd in its behaviour at times too!

For example, suppose you visit a site which you have saved in 1 Password and
press command-\, sometimes you're asked to enter the Master Password and then 1
Password automatically logs into the site which was the default behaviour of
this shortcut before Lion and the additional functionality of the Safari 1
Password extension came along.

The most reliable way to log into a web site I've found thus far is to go into
the 1 Password application itself, find the site login you want by using the
"search" function which has focus once the master password is entered and then
pressing option-command-enter to "Autofill login", this command runs sfarai,
brings up the login page and logs into the site.
