I think the problem may have been solved by exiting out of iTunes, and then 
going back in, and then I think I deleted it.
I will poke around a little more and see if I got it.

But did you go into the apps in your sources list, or just via the device? 
If you went to the device, it's just going to sit there, have to go to apps 
in the actual source list listed above the store link in source list, then 
take it out of there, then go find it again at the store. because for some 
reason as long as it's in the i-tunes apps folder it will show in apps on 
the device aka phone's apps list in i-tunes.
