Hi Eric, This sluggishness happens whenever you try to access external network resources. If you were trying to connect to a Windows machine as a networked device, or if you were using the now defunct MobileMe's iDisk, you would also get the Finder busy messages while running without without a monitor. (Well, you might get fewer busy messages if the connection were only on your local network.) I don't think this behavior can be changed according to the version of Dropbox, unfortunately. And I suspect that it won't go away with Mountain Lion, since similar behavior has been found for Mac Minis running without a monitor in early operating systems. I'm afraid that you'll either need to connect a monitor or get the Sewell Electronics adapter and use that with the Apple connector as John described in his "Adventures with My Mac Mini" blog post at his macfortheblind.com web page: http://macfortheblind.com/?p=591
