The best way I have figured to do this is to go right before the word or
letter I want to work with. I right over it and then back left. When it
says the same letter the second time you are actually on the one you
want to work with. If you delete at this point it should remove the one
you want. Confusing I know just try it though it should make it easier.

At the moment, the way things are set up is confusing me when I am trying to
edit text in mail or Text Editor. When I try to delete a character, or
correct a spelling manually, I'm fiddling about trying to get the focus on
the right character to delete. All too often, I find the wrong character has
been deleted, because the insertion point [if that's the correct term for
it] is focussed somewhere else in the word than where I expect it to be.
How/where do I look to change this, so it works in the more familiar way I'm
use to from using JAWS? -
