What I do is I use lion disk maker to make a bootable usb key as they call it. 
It's actually pretty easy but make sure you have the partition as a guid 
partition first.  I also can use CCC to do the same thing so both tools for me 
work very well. The advantage is you can keep your lion or mount ion lion flash 
drive uo date and it's very fast to boot up in to that recovery consul.
