I can't help with the new GB - I'm still using the older V6.05 As far as working and getting started in GB, there are many podcasts on the subject, however, they all deal with the older version. I'm not sure how much the new GB differs, but you can probably get a good idea from these podcasts.
check www.AppleToTheCore.info search there for "GarageBand". Please don't say you can't find them - they're there - check your spelling. There's five in the series and Ricardo should be able to get you going to some extent.
