Oh, and by the way, packet loss won’t be detectable simply by visiting an uncached site. The suggestion to use ping or even traceroute to determine packet loss is a good one. Anyway, now that I have the preferences, etc, in the trash, since I am a fairly new Mac user, maybe someone can tell me whether there is a way to determine where those files in the trash originated? I would like to know the locations of the files so that I can compare and try to further isolate what caused the issue. It is not immediately obvious how to determine where the files in the trash came from. I tried Command I but that didn’t do it.
