I never rely on the browser.I rely on raw data and because my computer is oso 
old I'v etaken to using the terminal for just about everything except my 
homework of corse, but still.

If you see that you are getting good tims and no packet los you will know if 
you are running on a good wifi signel.

If how ever you launch safari and the page loads, fine, but you won't know if 
your signle is good enough to be productive.
