The Giraffe Reader is not as good as the StandScan Pro as it doesn’t have its own lighting. However, it can be used in situations where the StandScan would not be feasible, such as in a restaurant to read the menu. The Giraffe Reader is much smaller to carry, takes up less space when erected and only weighs 70 g. The Giraffe Reader could be very helpful to anyone who has trouble positioning the iPhone to take pictures of text. I have both the StandScan Pro and the Giraffe Reader and consider them complementary.
