Well, was your hardware discussed at the time of setting up the account?
They should have asked/you should have addressed this. That way, they could
have sent you a proper Ethernet card (if applicable).

Basically, if you have any Mac made within the last five years (give or
take), you should already have a 10/100 based card. They have been stock on
all maces for quite a while. If it's an older Mac, possessing nubus slots,
for example, chances are you can't use the card. Nubus expandability is an
archaic format, used on the first generation PPCs and older. You may be able
to dig up a Nubus based 10/100 Ethernet card, somewhere.

As to Mac compatibility for that particular card, hop on your old 56k modem
and check it out, just like I did. It looks like they only support Macs for
their Ethernet router and maybe not the card.

joined with @Home, I told them my hardware (enquiring as to their level, of
expertise at Mac tech in the process! So far, so good) and that I did not
need an Ethernet card. So, they never sent me one.

Welcome to the list. If you want that 6100 on the Ethernet (and therefore on
@Home), you'll either need the above mentioned Nubus 10/100 Ethernet card,
OR an AIUU-to-10/100 adapter. The early PPCs and older 68k Macs used AIUU
Ethernet for networking, rather than 10/100 conectors (RJ45 connectors, I
believe they're called). I think you can get these adaptors for about $50m
bucks or so, but I don't know how the software sees them, or how recent a
Mac OS they can be used by.

If you want to search around the GTA for such things, try this web page ass
a starting point for mac retailors. This page ROCKS!
