A couple of ideas...

Try having your friend make a copy of the install CD and try installing from that. I had a CD of the Panther install that would not work on a PB G4. It worked other machines, but only a copy of it would "go" on that PB... some kind of disc/drive incompatibility?? (It did have a tiny scratch...)

I have PS Elements v. 2. While it worked fine on earlier versions of OS X, it doesn't like Panther. It should run but....
Perhaps an earlier version would work better on your earlier machine??

Did you have lots of HD space for the install? (Sorry if that's too obvious...)

Entitled Perplexed!

I purchased a new copy of Photoshop Elements 3 some eight weeks ago.
The program encountered "errors" when loading on to my
Macintosh G3 iBook. 800 Mhz G3, 640 MB Ram with Panther (10.3.9)
as the operating system. Wanted to learn to do some form of digital editing
to enhance my knowledge base.

Anybody on list have any ideas though? This has me really confused.
The G3 iBook continues to function with nary a visible problem.
