I ran software update this morning and went from 10.4.3 to 10.4.4.
Permissions were done before and after using Disk Utility. I had a file in
the Trash that hadn't been removed so I used Cocktail to force empty the
Trash. Since then, I haven't been able to put anything in the Trash because
it gets removed immediately. I've checked preferences galore in the OS and
Cocktail trying to find where to go back to the preferred method of sending
things to the Trash and then emptying it at a later time, and I'm not
finding any thing.

Help!

And, this may help some who miss Panther's Finder 'Find' command when
upgraded to Tiger. Do the usual Command-Find, and put the
words/partials/keyword in "double quotes" -- much faster than letting
Spotlight do its usual longwinded searches. (what a piece of cr*p for those
of us needing simple search capabilities)
