At the risk of sounding pedantic, 'parallel' has no place in this
situation. You have a 25 pin SCSI connector on the Mac and a 50 pin
centronics style connector for the CD 300. Parallel is an entirely
separate interface used by PCs.

I can confirm that Apple's external CD drives never had internal
termination. The old utility SCSI Probe might be useful here.
