Well, my Powerbook and a few million other PPC's aren't dead yet.
The Mac port would become an elite affair if PPC would be excluded
from new versions.

What about backward compatibility? Lock out is as bad as MS lock-in.

Options are fundamental and it would be a loss if only 20-some
languages would become available. Whether by all-platform language
packs or in the old way, the language variety should be maintained as
much as possible.

Progress should mean improvement, not restriction of possibilities.
As far as I understand it, that is part of Open Source philosophy, isn't it?
