powerpc: IMO, it is/will be dead soon.
Well, my Powerbook and a few million other PPC's aren't dead yet.
+1
Sure, I also own both architecture. But for the future, PPC is dead.
How long in the future?
I think that supporting PPC is required, my parents have PPC macs,
and won't be able to afford to upgrade them to Intel machines. I'm
sure the same applies for lots of other people/organisations.
Supporting Mac OS X 10.4 for as long as possible is required, as it
is the last OS to run on a vast array of machines. The open source
world usually prides itself for being able to run on older machines,
when commercial software won't run on those old machines.
Pavel you almost had the universal binary working, with the exception
of one module with the machine code, if I remember correctly? Why not
put it in a CWS and allow others to test/develop it further? I think
that putting it in a CWS will make the code more accessible for
people to try out. Unfortunately I don't have a PPC machine to hand
to do testing on this issue.
