I go along with Ann. I wanted a FW scanner at a reasonable price, but the 2450 was gone.
Mine is an Epson Perfection 2580 Photo. Very fast USB 2.0. 48 or 24 bit TIFFS or JPEGs or Pdf. Also a nifty film strip reader (35 mm only, negs or transparencies) that does very passable 2400 dpi if all you need are small prints. I always use the 'Professional' mode that allows a great deal of leeway and the software is very accurate in predicting what it previews. I have yet to have it not pick up on what I'm trying to scan. Just some tweaking required. I would like to add a comment re: my scanner of many years; Microtek ScanMaker V6usl. SCSI and USB 1.1. Great software, great scanner, but no Mac OS X support. Tried VueScan, but just not the same. Still have it on my legacy Windoze box. ctw On Jan 31, 2006, at 1:26 PM, Anne Cartwright wrote: > Rob, > > I have an Epson Perfection 2450 PHOTO scanner and I love it.
