Marta, you are an answer to an unspoken prayer. I just acquired a Zire 71, and am having issues with it. Spent several hours Friday night figuring out exactly the problem you just described. I am still getting an error, though, that says something about the installer not being compatible, then it tells me to reset my Palm and a 'fatal alert' appears. At that point, I have to do a hard reset and start all over again, with the same result. Did you have this problem? (Or has anyone else?)
