Jan, I don't think anyone responded to your question, and I may not have the final answer, but I do have an idea for you. I'm still learning about Panther's Font Book so I don't know if the answer is there. What I did in Appleworks to speed up changing the fonts is to go into Preferences - general...topic - general...and under the option choice, make sure the button for 'font menu in actual fonts' is unchecked. This will make it much quicker. Bill Micou
