Stuart,

Not sure a different power strip will help, some devices just don't  
like hubs.   The original Sound Sticks just would not play going  
through a hub, they had to be directly into the computer, this was  
when they were USB and now they are RCA jack so you don't have that  
problem.   It could be a bad hub but you may also have devices that  
will only work well directly from the computer.
