I am using Photoshop Elements 4.0 on a 2.8 GHz Intel Core Duo iMac and
a 2.4 GHz 17" MacBook Pro. Both purchased 2007/08 and currently
running Mac OS X 10.5.6.
I haven't had any problem with PSE $ on either. Have not been able to
load PSE 6.0 on my iMac; not sure what the problem is.
I also use VueScan quite a bit. When scanning transparencies I
sometimes find that I have to download and install the application
again. Don't know why I have this problem on occasion. For a while
there I was doing about 30-50 a day with no problem other than boredom.
Maybe I, too, am living a charmed life. Not that I recall anyone ever
calling me charming.

I don't do any serious work with PSE 4. I resize photos, adjust dpi
(usually down), remove color, and adjust contrast. Oh, I also use the
photo merge and picture pack functions. I don't have skills in other
areas. Maybe that's why I'm not having any problems.

I have an epson 1650 scanner (circa 2001) and can scan very well
through
APE 4.
According to Adobe's Leopard FAQ [1], Elements 4.0 is "Likely to
encounter issues for which there is no resolution." I couldn't get it
to work on my Macbook or Mini. On the Mini, it refused to launch at
all and on the Macbook it would freeze up as soon as the machine
connected to a network drive as well as at other unpredictable times.
You must lead a charmed life.
