Hi Harry,

Have you heard of the new Lytro camera? It is supposed to take the entire light field, so you can focus it later. I don't know much more about it, but it sounds interesting to me, because I take such blurry pictures.

Harry,

I got the Canon G12 as a Christmas gift. It's a very nice point-and-shoot that
isn't a shirt-pocket camera, and actually has enough heft to feel like a real
camera. Also, it has a viewfinder, which allows you to take many more shots on
one battery charge than if you use the LCD screen. My daughter, who is a
photographer, tried out several similar camera's, including Nikon's newer
offerings, and decided this was the best high-amateur non-SLR she could find.

The G12 is not cheap; I believe it sells for $400-$500.

Ed, this is a lot more than I want to spend at this time.

Thanks.

Nikon has made their version but only their lenses work on the Nikon 1

Canon has yet to enter the market.

I'm in the market for a new camera (not an slr and not a small one
that fits in your shirt pocket, but something in-between. There was a
discussion a while back on this list but I don't remember what camera
was recommended.
Your thoughts please!

Thanks

Harry
