Ed,

How do these work, ie are they hooked to a particular vendor such as AT&T,
Verizon, Sprint?

Would it be better to get a USB card or slot card to carry with you from these
vendors?

I know with the last office computer update the company installed a Wi-Fi
backup box. They brought three, one from each of the vendors above and used
the one with the best signal. It is only used for backup should we lose power
as there wouldn't begin to be enough speed to feed all we demand through
cellular.

This is why I keep one iPhone and iPad on AT&T, my wife has the same on Verizon
but that won't help my laptop and since my world was really changed when the
CME took my data away I am now having to use an off the shelf software that
will have to be connected to the outside world and run on a MAC and not an iPad
or iPhone. This means before I take my next trip I will need to have this
question solved.

So what is the difference between these two systems? Which would be best.
Once I better understand the MiFi it may mean I have to carry a card from each
vendor! Horrors.

Thanks for your help.

John
