You might want to stop trying to use a program on another
volume to work with the volume you are on, if you are
doing that.  For me, that caused all kinds of problems
because of differences in versions of the program...if
you want to change a file, add to it, etc., the best
thing is to get it to the volume you have its program on.
 I stopped trying to use a program on one volume (disk,
computer) to try to change, work with a file on another.
 I would drag the file to my computer which had the
program/application on it and then work on it.  I could
always drag/copy the changed file back to its original
position...
