Well...

I'm using a Dayna Etherprint to bridge to a QMS PS1700 (HP LJ4) The key 
for me was to use the AUI port on the bridge with an AUI/RJ45 
tranceiver.  If you have one, try adding a hub or the aforementioned 
tranceiver between the router and the bridge. (straight through cabling.)
