I believe (just to nitpick and be "technical"), they are actually 
TeleTalk (or PhoneNet if you use the Farallon name) connectors. LocalTalk 
was a style made (primarily) by Apple that used a 3 wire cable and didn't 
need terminators (they were built into the adaptor, although some 
versions of the TeleTalk also had terminators built in). AppleTalk is the 
protocol that runs over the connectors.

However, commonly, they were all just refered to as LocalTalk connectors. 
Most people didn't pay attention to the difference between the phone 
cable style and the "Apple" 3 wire style.

But it can be important to know the difference between the two. If you 
asked someone that has both if you can have one, you might end up with 
the wrong style.
