That's the path of least resistance. Ensure it's a /hardware/ modem -
the packaging will say it works with non-Windows OSs, such as OS/2,
Linux and maybe MacOS. That should Just Work(TM).

If it states that it's Mac-compatible, sure, that should work. Go for it.

The original Apple internal modem is the most elegant solution, and it
will keep your PCI slots free, but it will be harder to get, harder to
fit and probably cost more.
