Apple to Launch Euro Stores Within 18 Months

Maybe a Retail Store on the second level of the Eiffel Tower?
Apple vice president and general manager for Europe, Pascal Cagni, revealed that Apple
will launch stores in Europe along the same lines as the model adopted in the US.
An interview with Cagni with Sunday Business, cited by MacWorld UK, said that retail
locations will include London and Paris. Cagni also said that whil e no precise
opening date had been set, the company expected to open stores within the next 6 to 18
months.
Apple's expansion into Europe comes as US Retail Store revenues grew to almost $150
million in Q1 2003, in line with expectations. The effects of Apple Retail have also
apparently been felt by third-party resellers in the US, with several filing suit
against Apple in recent months, alleging malpractises.
Analysis: Neither the European nor the Japanese markets are faring well for Apple
currently, chiefly because both are experiencing soft economies.
