Village Tronic, Harmonic release multi-display card

Here's an inexpensive card for graphics, design, video apps and their dozens of
palettes
Harmonic Inversion Technology, the exclusive US distributor for Village Tronic
PowerMac video cards, has announced a new improved MPDD Pro, a product line shipping
since 2001.
"Working with multiple files or applications with windows spread across screens only
enhances the Mac experience. MPDD Pro gives users the big screen experience, for far
less cost than LCD options," Eric Dahlinger, Harmonic Inversion Technology stated.
The Village Tronic MPDD Pro video card remains the least expensive means of adding
additional Apple RGB or VGA monitors to any Power Mac with PCI slots. MPDD Pro runs
under any Mac OS from 7.5.3 through the latest version of X.
"Unlike 3D video cards that are generally out-dated when released, MPDD Pro offers a
rich feature list while avoiding stuffing the System Folder with potential
conflict-causing Extensions," the company's PR states. "The Virtual Desktop feature
provides up to four times the usable desktop space as the CRT glass size. And, there
are no fans to noisily grind to a halt causing the video to evaporate."
The MPDD Pro is a seven-inch PCI with connectors for Apple RGB and VGA monitors, and
works in both 33 and 66 MHz PCI slots. It sports 16MB of RAM and can drive resolutions
of up to 1600 x 1200.
This card is available from Small Dog, for example, for $99. Other resellers include
TechnoWarehouse, MacMall and DMS.
Editor's note: At my day job, I use Photoshop, InDesign, Word and a host of other
publishing apps, all of which generate an impossible number of palettes for my iBook's
12-inch screen. When the company buys me a new tower in April, the MPDD Pro is just
the medicine I'll need to tame the mire that obscures my work.
