Think Secret: Macworld to be renamed 'Create'
By ron carlson, Insanely Great Mac
March 26th 2003

A 'significantly changed' show is to be rebranded, remarketed

Think Secret in the ever-shifting guise of chief editor Nick dePlume reports that
Macworld Boston will be renamed "Create" to better reflect its increased focus on
creative markets. Also, the report states that the shifting of the Worldwide Developer
Conference (WWDC) to San Francisco at the end of June "is having negative effect on
exhibitors for Create."

Apple and IDG, the show's organizer, are still in negotiations vis--vis the
mothership's presence. With or without an Apple-branded booth, this summer's Create
show will likely be a shell of its former Macworld self.

Editor's note: I'll posit that Apple will hold off on making an agreement with IDG
until the last possible moment thus insuring that Create will fail. It will go down
like this: a.) Apple won't sign on the Create dotted line until it get its fill of
advanced reservations for the WWDC, b.) Create will shortly thereafter be reorganized
or cancelled outright because of a lack of interest, and c.) whether or not the show
actually goes on, Apple will sooner or later announce a "strategic rededication of
marketing resources" (their intention not to participate in next year's show).

What's your take?
