MCE Announces Internal DVD-R Drives for iBooks, PowerBooks, Power Macs

Internal DVD-R upgrades for all G3, G4 Macs, yes, even iBooks.
MCE has announced (172k PDF) internal DVD-R drive upgrades for the complete line of
Power Macs, G4 Cubes. flat-panel iMacs, Rev.A-D iMacs, slot-load iMacs, iBooks (Dual
USB) and PowerBook G3s and G4s.
Some upgrades are available from MCE immediately, while the rest will ship in April.
All of the DVD-R drives are compatible with iTunes and Disc Burner.
Included with the drives is "basic" DVD authoring software, obviating the need for
iDVD compatibility. The also works with G3 Macs. Although the software currently has
OS 9 compatibility, all purchasers will receive a voucher entitling them to a free
upgrade to the OS X version, which is scheduled for release at the end of April.
All models also ship with Roxio's Toast Lite. The DVD-R drive upgrades are priced
between $279 and $449, depending on model.
