I asked Elgato directly and here is the response:

We're not able to discuss our potential future plans at all, in any area, for
any product. Even if I would like to, I'm not allowed to share such facts or
speculations.

What I can say is that we haven't been able to support CableCARD devices in
EyeTV in the past, or in the present.

OS X doesn't have built-in CableCARD support.

Windows, on the other hand, has had CableCARD support for a while, since
Microsoft made that a priority. Specific hardware is needed to make that work
with Windows, and we don't provide such hardware.

If you are interested in full CableCARD support in the present, I would
recommend looking into solutions available for Windows

That's what we thought as well. But, they are offering free boxes (for 2
years). As we don't have a TV, the boxes don't help us.
They also offer the Motorola M-Card (CableCARD), but we don't have any devices
that support it. The HDHomeRun PRIME does support it, but all the software is
for Android and Windows Media.

Seattle.

Not here.
My BIL ended up trying an antenna with his HDHomeRun and where he is in the
city he is able to get a fair number of digital channels in HD. In fact, the
quality seems better OTA than what Comcast is sending down the pipes. We tried
an antenna where we are and we got nothing.

My BIL then set up EyeTV for streaming - so we've been able to stream from his
system across town to our iPads - and we're getting a pristine signal.

My hope is that we can try another antenna and get some of our local stations.
If not, we aren't going to bother anymore. Not missing much!

Would much prefer a la carte or app-based channels.
