The latest version of Dropbox moves the position of the Dropbox folder to
~/Library/CloudStorage in line with Apple’s current advice regarding external
cloud storage. The installer then creates a link to the new Dropbox folder
which it places in the locations part of the Finder sidebar.

Unfortunately if you try moving the link back to the ‘Favourites' section it
simply
vanishes. Any attempt on my part to recreate it in ‘Locations’ fails. It
appears impossible to completely delete the Dropbox installation - the folder
in ~/Library/CloudStorage remains despite all attempts to remove it. As a
result a reinstallation of the Dropbox app fails to recreate the sidebar link

Has anyone any idea how to recreate the link and replace it in ‘Locations’?
The Apple support community has no solutions and Dropbox support pass it off as
a MacOS problem. The latter may be partly true but at least some of the
problem must lie with the Dropbox installer.

Any help appreciated.
