We stopped producing MacPorts installer packages for Mac OS X 10.4 after 2.9.3 but I don't know why. Maybe this was part of the reason. But we do have people using 2.10.5 on Mac OS X 10.4 so it must be possible to compile it. I don't know what the memory requirements to do so are. Are you low on free disk space? > Trying 2.9.3 the compilation completed, but "selfupdate" > complains about macport being too old. What exact error message did you get? Selfupdate should have noticed that 2.9.3 is outdated and attempted to download 2.10.5 and compile it.
