One of Apple's marketing claims is the new OS is actually smaller than the old one, so I'd guess the usual 8GB or so. As with previous upgrades, I suspect you can also just put the DVD in and then open the Installer app which will do little more than change the startup device and reboot your machine. Then you don't have to worry about holding down the C key.
