If VoiceOver jus says graphic, without there being a text label, how is
that handled?

Downcast. I, for my part, use two things. The Podcast app on my iPhone and
iTunes on my Mac. As for searching for a podcast for learning Apple stuff

discover exactly what you are looking for. As for handling graphics, you
