The only thing is that this method will not get you filenames in the
subdirectories, or at least I don't think it will. It will give you the
directory names of subdirectories but I think you would probably then have to
repeat this process for each subdirectory. Still, it is a nice method. I'm also
not sure in what order this method will list the filenames since I haven't
tried it yet.

I tried and tried to turn over a new leaf.
I got crumpled wads of tear-stained paper
thrown in the trash!
Then God gave me a new heart and life:
His joy for my despairing tears!
And now, every day:
"This I call to mind,
and therefore I have hope:
The steadfast love of the Lord
never ceases;
his mercies never come to an end;
they are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness."
(Lamentations 3:21-23 ESV)

Oh, that's nice! I never knew how to do this without the actual files being
copied. Since I do text by default, I wouldn't even need to do that step.

1. Copy all the files in Finder by selecting them and pressing command C.
2. Open TextEdit.
3. Press command shift T to force the format in TextEdit to text only.
4. Press command V to paste in the filenames.

Job  done.
