Youch! I wonder how much it costs to get an adapter. Please dear God tell me
they include one, and don't just expect us to buy one outright. That wouldn't
be fair, as most people don't have USB devices that natively would connect that
way.

Chris.

  BTW: the new MacBooks

use a thunderbolt adaptor for USB connectivity which I think is a minus not a
plus.

Yeah, but the new ones are thinner.
Actually, the new MacBooks don’t have thunderbolt at all. They only have
USBC.

Your first question needs to be: laptop or desktop? I started on the Mini
too, but found eventually that I wanted to be able to bring my Mac around with
me. Now I have the Air and find it much better. Even though it has half the ram
and a slower processor, it runs much faster than my old Mini because it has a
solid state drive. Of course, the newest Minis can have SSDs too, and they are
cheaper as well. What they aren't is portable, and as I said, I found that
having my Mac be able to come with me was important.

Your next question is power. Is the Air enough? For email and web browsing,
it's plenty, but for music production? Does it have enough ports/do you do most
things by external mixing which doesn't need more than one audio or USB port?
Do you need the extra ports of the Pro? Would a hub do just as well? I have a
guide on all the different Mac models one can buy, which might be useful:

      Hi!
I am about to buy a new mac soon this year.
But i really don't know what to buy which fits my needs.
I will search for some funding to have the ability to buy a new one.
So i guess there wont be no mac pro which anyway is a bit overkill even
though it could be cool to have one.
And i am totally blind so i don't need the imac with retina support.
What i want is a computer for mail, internet and some music production.
Will a new mac mini be enough for music production or should i stick with
a macbook pro?
I really need some suggestions even though i know its hard to help.
I now have a mac mini mid 2011 which ofcourse begins to be a bit oldish.
The new upcomming macbook seems to be a bit to much for the money i think.
      So please help.
      Thanks in advance.
      /A
