Hello E.T., I am so sorry you experienced that. It must have been extremely frustrating.
All I can say is that no one with whom I interact, locally, has been forced to upgrade to Windows 10. While I am a huge fan of Windows 10, generally speaking, I recommend upgrading only to those running Windows 8.x. I strongly suspect, and this is only a supposition on my part, that you had some kind of nefarious app forcing you to upgrade. That is to say, a colleague of a friend of mine in Texas, experienced a similar phenomenon; as it turned out, her copy of Windows had been compromised. I do not know if she was running Windows on a Boot Camp partition or not but I do recall that the problem did not stem from the native Windows OS. Can you imagine how the world would react were Microsoft to force people to upgrade?
