 I know this is late in coming,
 
Have you simply tried unplugging the keyboard and restarting the machine then 
plugging the keyboard back in to see if the prompt for a new keyboard comes up 
like it should.

I know my work mac mini gave me  the prompt to confirm what the keyboard type 
was when I plugged in my windows keyboard.

 Think it was you had to press z and then /  or vise versra when selecting the 
correct board type.
