Well, I have lots of Netgear routers and they do not charge to upgrade
firmware. It’s available for free on the website to download, remember I have
a netgear R8500 in service now and supported thousands of them in the field for
COVAD. You go to a web site, download the code, browse to your router, put the
file name in, hit update and that’s it. Anyone charging for this is robbing
you. I’m more than happy to help you do this for free as it is so simple. But
you have to understand, you’re getting totally bad advice that’s costing you
and your family real money. Pay if you want it doesn’t hurt me any but as P.
T. Barnum said, there’s a sucker born every minute. You don’t need to be a
sucker, there’s to many people here who will gladly help for free and have
nothing to gain regardless if you spend money or not.
