Tim,
I may look for those 3 when I am bored. (smiles) One thing I found
was that since it seems purchased music is not syncing, the changes I
made to a couple albums on the Mac are not showing on the iPhone. A note
of interest...these are the same two albums where some of the songs have
the AAC kind. Think it would be worth deleting them?

Hi,
Usually, anything purchased from iTunes should read as "Purchased AAC
Audio File". A plain old AAC Audio File is one that iTunes may have
converted itself when importing a CD or other media into iTunes. Now,
that's a "usually", so, if it's misbehaving, then I'd have to play with
it more. It sounds like you're fine with it now, so, so am I :).

Ok what throws me off track is two things. One, the items with the

the iTunes store.
Two, apparently I don't need to sync the purchased music because its
already on my devices.
So the final count matches, just off by 3 now. Close enough. :)

Hi,
The Purchased AAC Audio files are, of course, those that you purchased
from the iTunes Store. If it says MPEG Audio File, then it is likely
an mp3. If it says AAC Audio File, then it is an Apple AAC file.
Regarding the checked items thing, in the Summary pane, if the item is
checked to only sync checked music, then once you applied the change,
all the unchecked items would have been automatically removed from the
iPhone.

Here is what "kind" got me. "Purchased AAC audio file". But this is
not on all of the songs, less than half.
Still don't understand all the purchased albums remaining on the
iPhone after unchecking sync.

HI ET,
Just making sure that I've got your configuration correct.
•. No Apple Music or iTunes Match?

I like having the "kind" displayed. When in iTunes, press cmd-j to
bring up View options, navigate through the list and check it. This
may help us determine if any of your music is of a kind that is not
supported on the iOS device.

Tim, the mystery deepens. There was no "kind" option so I chose the

songs from two of the new albums that were unchecked. They did not
stay checked. So I turned syncing off. All the music left my
phone...except the songs from all the new albums. They show in the
iOS music app but do not show under the My Device list on the Mac.
What do I need to do to straighten out this mess? Thanks!

Hi,
In iTunes on your Mac, make sure that the Music table is in List
view, then interact with the table and press VO-shift-back slash.
This will put VO into the Header info for the columns. Either sort
it by "Kind" or by iCloud status if that is a column. You can press
cmd-j to bring up the View options if "kind" is not one of the
headers. If you sort by "iCloud Status", then you may find some
"ineligible" titles. If you sort by "Kind", you may find some pdf
or Album Jacket kinds of items. These likely won't be able to be
transferred to the iOS device.
