I'll try to explain my situation and see if anyone has come across this or has any thoughts. I'm the president of a board and we have an email list not unlike this one. When I send emails to the list it seems people reading them on a mac or iPhone can read the text of the emails but for pretty much any members who are reading the emails on a PC does not see the text. They are able to access any attachments but the rest of the body of the email appears blank. One of my board members has tested this by looking at the emails on both his PC and his iPhone.
