Hi Donna,
I respect your stance, but I invite you to search for articles showcasing
when the tool has been used, songwriting for drake, trying to write a
mash script for Alan alda, the factors around its use in the current
writer's strike.
I imagine the usage is in the hands of the beholder if that makes sense.
Best,
Karen

Actually, Karen, I have to disagree. I know writers who use it to help them
generate ideas for their fiction. That’s pretty abstract. And those same
writers will tell you that they do often repeat the prompt in order to get a
variety of responses.

Donna

The program is not created for independent thought.
It is created to piece together the thoughts, information so forth from others.
The same question over and over? perhaps. Abstract? no, fortunately, because
that keeps human touch in place.

Isn’t it? I play around with it from time to time, but where I’ve found it to have
fallen a little short is when it comes to its ability to write code, unless there’s
something I’m missing. I asked it one day after listening to the AppleVis podcast
Thomas Domville did, borrowed his idea to have it create multiple choice questions
about AppleVis, but then asked it to create a sharable template with radio buttons,
which it attempted to do, but instead of radio buttons, it created checkboxes. I
then attempted to test the line of code it created on Codepen.io
<http://codepen.io/>, and unfortunately the site wouldn’t have anything to do
with it.

I use it regularly and it works really well, though it has limits. I use it to
help with writing, sometimes to help with programming, to brainstorm ideas,
etc. It’s definitely insane how far things have come in such a short time.
BTW you don’t necessarily need the app: there is a web interface as well.

Hello All,
Just so you know, I am posting this to both lists.
So I keep running into all kinds of news articles on Chat GPT, a product
from the Open A I project.
Has anyone downloaded the app from the App Store and, if so, are you finding
it as amazing as some of the news reporters from USA Today and the
Wallstreet Journal?
I went to the website at chat.openai.com to see what I could find. I did
not find much; I'll have to download the app to really check it out.
Oh, the article I read today, in the Apple News app talked about how Chat
GPT planned the writer's vacation itinerary and did a pretty good job of it,
apparently.
I look forward to reading your replies,
Mark
